MAE 3310. TEACHING MATHEMATICS I.

TEACHING MATHEMATICS I Prerequisite: Minimum grad of C in RED 3042 and passing scores on all four subtests of the Florida Teacher Certification General Knowledge Test; or department approval. This course provides Florida Educator Accomplished Practices-aligned knowledge and skills for prospective teachers and teachers in Elementary Education K-6 mathematics. It focuses on the strands in the Florida Standards for Mathematics: number sense and operations, algebraic reasoning, measurement, fractions, geometric reasoning, and data analysis and probability. This course addresses elementary education pedagogical content knowledge for teaching the Florida Standards for math and the Elementary Education K-6 Florida Teacher Certification Examination competencies in math.

MAE 4311. TEACHING MATHEMATICS II.

TEACHING MATHEMATICS II Prerequisite: Minimum grade of C in MAE 3310 or department approval. This course provides Florida Educator Accomplished Practices-aligned knowledge and skills for prospective teachers and teachers in Elementary Education K-6 mathematics. Application of the standards and curriculum in elementary school mathematics K- 6 with emphasis on the content knowledge and pedagogical skills needed to provide a variety of developmentally and conceptually appropriate learning experiences for elementary school children. This course addresses elementary pedagogical content knowledge for teaching the strands in the Florida Standards for Mathematics and the Elementary Education K-6 Florida Teacher Certification Examination competencies in mathematics and includes a 15-hour field experience.
