LASER ENGINEERING DESIGN Prerequisites: ETS 1210C or PHY 2049C and minimum grade of C in EGN 3428 This course will cover the fundamental physical processes relevant to lasers and explore a variety of specific laser systems. Topics include optical resonators, laser gain and oscillation, pulsed and CW laser operation, system design considerations, and environmental effects. Focus on an examination of existing semiconductors lasers, solid-state lasers, fiber lasers, rare earth lasers, and systems that incorporate lasers as a primary component. Minimum grade of C required if used to satisfy Electrical and Computer Engineering Technology, B.S. Degree requirement
