INTRODUCTION TO THEATER An overview of the Theatrical Arts. Incorporates a study of theatre practitioners and their craft, including playwrights, directors, actors, designers and technicians. Includes a general overview of theatre history, a survey of contemporary practices in theatre, and exploration of plays from various genres and periods. Attendance at performances is required. This course will include selections from the Western canon.

SCRIPT ANALYSIS An introduction to the analysis and interpretation of play scripts, as preparation for production. Students will read plays from various periods and genres and analyze such dramatic elements as plot, theme, character, dialogue, and style.

SELECTED TOPICS IN THEATER For students interested in exploring special topics in theater through research, discussion and observation. Multiple credit course. May be repeated for credit, but grade forgiveness cannot be applied.
