A HISTORY OF GENOCIDE The primary focus of the course is to define genocide in all of its forms, expose the flaws in current pedagogy and reappraise in order to address the complexities of the topic. It will address bureaucratic mechanized genocide as well as the more spontaneous and pre-industrial.

WORLD HISTORY TO 1500 Prerequisite: Minimum grade of C in ENC 1101, ENC 1101H, or IDH 1110 Survey of the evolution of civilizations from ancient times to the modern era (1500 AD/CE) with emphasis on political, social, cultural, and economic development as they evolved in the various areas. Examines the ancient world and ancient civilizations, classical antiquity, the early nation-states in the various areas around the globe, world religions emergence and development, developments through the first millennium common era, the European Renaissance, intersection and connection between global regions including the early age of Exploration, and other topics that explore the interactions among various civilization regions. Gordon Rule course in which the student is required to demonstrate college-level writing skills through multiple writing assignments. Minimum grade C required if WOH 2012 is used to satisfy Gordon Rule requirements.

WOH 2022. WORLD HISTORY SINCE 1500.

WORLD HISTORY SINCE 1500 Prerequisite: Minimum grade of C in ENC 1101, ENC 1101H, or IDH 1110 Survey of modern transformation of civilizations from 1500 to the present day with emphasis on political, social, cultural, and economic development as they evolved in the various areas. Examines the increasing interconnection of the various world regions emerging through the European Renaissance and age of exploration, the impact of the enlightenment and modern revolutions, the rise of modern nations throughout the world, industrialism, imperialism, and the impact to the Indian, African, Far Eastern and American backgrounds and developments, the world wars, the Cold War, postcolonialism, and other topics that explore the interactions among various civilization regions. Gordon Rule course in which the student is required to demonstrate college-level writing skills through multiple writing assignments. Minimum grade C required if WOH 2022 is used to satisfy Gordon Rule requirements.
