ORIENTATION TO EXCEPTIONAL EDUCATION This course provides an overview of exceptional education including basic philosophy, legal issues, history and development of this discipline. Characteristics of exceptional learners and current trends in education, classroom practices and psychological, sociological and medical aspects of disabilities and giftedness are also covered.

DIFFERENTIATED INSTRUCTION OF EXCEPTIONAL AND DIVERSE STUDENTS Prerequisite: Minimum grade of C in RED 3042 and passing scores on all four subtests of the Florida Teacher Certification General Knowledge Test; or admission to the EPI program; or department approval. This course provides Florida Educator Accomplished Practices-aligned knowledge and skills for teachers and prospective teachers needed to create inclusive and effective differentiated instruction in learning environments that meet the unique needs of exceptional and diverse students.
