ESOL FOUNDATIONS: CULTURE AND LANGUAGE Prerequisite: Minimum grade of C in RED 3042 and passing scores on all four subtests of the Florida Teacher Certification General Knowledge Test; or department approval. This course provides Florida Educator Accomplished Practices-aligned knowledge and skills for teachers and prospective teachers to examine issues and effects of culture and language on participation and learning by English language learners in elementary classrooms including the development of language and literacy skills in English. This course addresses ESOL Competencies 1 and 2.

TSL 4100. ESOL: CURRICULUM, METHODS, AND ASSESSMENT.

ESOL: CURRICULUM, METHODS, AND ASSESSMENT Prerequisite: Minimum grade of C in TSL 3080; or department approval. This course provides Florida Educator Accomplished Practices-aligned knowledge and skills for teachers and prospective teachers to understand linguistic and cultural effects on ELL participation and performance in the elementary classroom. Students will create appropriate and challenging curriculum content, materials, and assessments to foster meaningful and appropriate learning environments for native English speakers and English language learners. This course addresses ESOL Competencies 3, 4 and 5 and includes a 15-hour field experience.
