Honors Graduation Distinctions
Responsibility for meeting the requirements for an honors graduation distinction rests with the student. To be awarded an honors graduation distinction from Valencia College, an honors student must have an active student record, submit an honors graduation application by the deadline date listed in the Academic Calendar, and complete one of the following sets of distinction criteria:
Seneff Honors College Scholar Diploma
The Seneff Honors College Scholar diploma is reserved for those students who:
- Successfully complete at least 24 credit hours of honors coursework
- Earn no less than a "C" in each honors class
- Graduate with a cumulative overall GPA of at least 3.5
- Complete three approved co-curricular activities each term of enrollment (fall and spring)
Valencia Honors Scholar Diploma
The Valencia Honors Scholar diploma is reserved for those students who:
- Successfully complete at least 18 hours of honors coursework
- Earn no less than a "C" in each honors class
- Graduate with a cumulative overall GPA of at least 3.33
- Complete three approved co-curricular activities each term of enrollment (fall and spring)
Honors Scholar Certificate
The Honors Scholar certificate is reserved for those students who:
- Successfully complete at least 12 hours of honors coursework
- Earn no less than a "C" in each honors class
- Maintain a cumulative overall GPA of at least 3.25
Honors Regalia
Honors graduates earning either an honors certificate or an honors diploma may receive honors regalia to recognize their academic achievements at graduation.
Regalia varies by distinction:
- Seneff Honors College Scholar: medallion, stole, and tassel
- Valencia Honors Scholar: cord, stole, and tassel
- Honors Scholar: stole and tassel
Presentation of Regalia
The Seneff Honors College presents regalia to honors graduates during an honors-only recognition event that is held before commencement each fall and spring.
