Substitute Requirements for Students with Disabilities

Valencia College, in accordance with State Board of Education Rule 6A-10.041, has established policies and procedures for reasonable substitutions of admission and graduation requirements for eligible students.

Students seeking a substitution must provide appropriate documentation from a qualified professional that verifies the existence of a disability and explains the extent to which the disability affects functioning in a postsecondary academic environment. Requested substitutions must not fundamentally alter the essential requirements of the academic program.

To initiate a substitution request, students should contact the Office for Students with Disabilities. Upon determination of eligibility, Office for Students with Disabilities staff will provide guidance regarding required documentation and the substitution request process. Final decisions regarding substitution requests are made by the Collegewide Course Substitution Committee.
