Students who withdraw or fail a class due to extenuating circumstances may be granted an exception only once for each class. Other exceptions may be granted for individualized study, elective coursework, courses that are repeated as a requirement of a major, and courses that are intended as continuing over multiple semesters, excluding the repeat of coursework more than two times to increase grade point average or meet minimum course grade requirements.
In accordance with Sections 1009.28 and 1009.285, Florida Statutes, students enrolled in the same college-preparatory or college-level course at Valencia more than two times after July 1997 shall pay the full cost (100%) of instruction fee. The full cost of instruction fee is the additional amount that excludes state funding based on the system wide average of undergraduate programs for Florida College System institutions. The full cost of instruction fee is not set by the District Board of Trustees but instead is updated and set annually by the Florida Department of Education as provided by law.
The academic year 2024-25 full cost of instruction fee is $280.00 per credit hour. This fee is added to the block tuition and fee rates established for the academic year.
Although the full cost of instruction fee must be paid by the fee payment deadline, this fee may be appealed for extenuating circumstances. An appeal form may be obtained online through your Atlas account by the Full Cost of Instruction Appeal Deadline provided in the Academic Calendar in the online official catalog. The form can be accessed in the Student tab > Student Forms > Registration link.
